From the 9th-10th May the University of Limerick was the meeting point for highly motivated and good-humoured XoSoft team members from all over Europe. They invested their time during those two days to move research and design elements forward in the development of the XoSoft alpha prototype.

An article by the PR Newswire featuring the case of a surgeon in the US caught our attention. The surgeon, who suffered a spinal cord injury and was bound to a wheelchair ever since was granted coverage and reimbursement by his insurance for a ReWalk Robotics exoskeleton.
The European Independent Living Day, celebrated on 5 May, is an annual event to raise awareness about the right to Independent Living and its importance for disabled people. It was launched by the European Network on Independent Living (ENIL) in 2014.
The XoSoft project had its first press release and the media interest exceeded our expectations.
Advancement in healthcare and medicine and other comforts of modernity make us live longer than our ancestors: the life expectancy of the average European nearly doubled during the last century. As life expectancy increases, however, so does the number of older people with mild to moderate disability.
On 18–21 October, the International Symposium on Wearable Robotics, We Rob 2016 is opening its doors for the second time in La Granja de San Illdefonso, Segovia, Spain.
The European Robotics Forum (ERF) 2016 will open its doors on 21 – 23 March in Ljubljana for researchers, engineers and managers from all over Europe. The ERF offers a platform to present strategies and projects to maximise the benefits of robotics for economy and society. This annual event has quickly become the most influential meeting of the European robotics community.
After the project start on February 1st, partners through out the project have been working hard on getting the ball rolling. Under the guidance of Dr Leonard O’Sullivan from University of Limerick, a number of meetings have been conducted with members from the various user groups to help define and fulfil their requirements and needs.
The XoSoft proposal has been successfully evaluated to receive funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 framework programme for research and innovation under grant agreement No 688175.
